Over Christmas I read, First Things First on Kurt and Brenda Warner. It was a fun read. Truly made me realize that sports families are all alike! The Warner's emphasize the Family Rules they have created to keep their lives humble. This book puts a priority on family! This book brings to life that if you consistently put "first things first", life, marriage and raising kids all get a whole lot easier!
Just like the Warner's have family rules, so do the Keene's. I have never actually wrote them down, well until now, but these are our Family Rules.....
1-We eat at the table as a family, we don't get up until everyone is finished (this one is a work in progress with Justice)
2-During the holidays we will always share our blessings with less fortunate families. (Since we have a "family coaching philosophy" the girls basketball team fits into this one too.)
3-Santa and the Easter Bunny is for little kids and Jesus is FOREVER (share the love of Christ with our kids)
4-When the going gets tough, make some quality time for each other
5-Don't Dress for the job you have, Dress for the job you want
6-Play hard at home, work hard at work
7-Be each others biggest supporter, live their hopes and dreams too
8-Always keep a supply of Reese's Cups... :) Justice and mommy LOVE them
9-Start more Family Traditions--we make Caramel corn at Christmas and watch Christmas Vacation
10-Have a party every year at our house inviting people who touch our lives!
